Today is International Youth Day. It calls on the international community to highlight the problems and rights of the young generation, as well as spread knowledge about the World Programme of Action for Youth adopted by the UN in 1995. In December 2009 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring on the Year of Youth from 12 August 2010 to August 11, 2011. This initiative, under the slogan "Dialogue and Understanding", aims to promote the ideals of peace, respect for human rights and solidarity between people of different generations, cultures, religions and civilizations.
